Airflow drying, also known as "instant drying", is the application of dilute phase transport in solid fluidization in drying. The method is to make the heating medium and the solid particles to be dried directly contact and make the solid particles to be dried suspended in the fluid, so the two-phase contact area is large, strengthen the heat and mass transfer process, widely used in the drying unit operation of bulk materials. The airflow dryer is mainly composed of drying pipe, cyclone separator and fan. Wet materials are continuously added to the lower part of the drying tube by the feeder, and are dispersed by high-speed hot air flow. In the process of gas-solid co-current flow, heat transfer and mass transfer are carried out to dry the materials. The dry solid material enters the cyclone separator with the air flow, and is collected after separation, and the exhaust gas is discharged by the fan. Since the rising speed of the material is zero when it first enters the drying tube, the relative speed between the gas and the particles is large and the particle density is also high, the volumetric heat transfer coefficient is high. in the material inlet section (height is about 1~3m), the heat transferred from the gas to the material can reach 1/2~3/4 of the total heat transfer. Above the inlet section, the relative velocity between the particles and the gas flow is equal to the sedimentation velocity of the particles (see sedimentation), and the heat transfer coefficient is not very large. Thus, the inlet section is the effective section in the overall flash dryer.
Working principle
The characteristic of the pulse airflow dryer is that the diameter of the airflow drying tube is alternately reduced and expanded. The use of pulse airflow drying tube can give full play to the high heat and mass transfer effect of the acceleration section to strengthen the drying process. The added material particles first enter the drying tube with small pipe diameter, and the particles are accelerated. When the acceleration movement ends, the drying pipe diameter suddenly expands, and the particles enter the drying tube with large pipe diameter by inertia. Particles in the process of movement due to the resistance and continue to slow down, until the end of the deceleration. The drying tube suddenly shrinks, so that the particles are accelerated again. If the diameter of the tube is reduced and expanded repeatedly and alternately, the movement velocity of the particles is also accelerated and decelerated alternately. The relative velocity and heat transfer area between the air and the particles are large, thus enhancing the heat and mass transfer rate. At the same time, the decrease in the airflow velocity in the expanding tube also increases the drying time accordingly.
